Secretary's Report – Tami E:  Roll call. March minutes accepted. For corrections to minutes, please telephone, e-mail or bring them to me at the following month's district meeting. I have group change forms for any new GSRs, Alternate GSRs, or group changes that need to be made.

Treasurer's Report – presented by Beverly H:  Report accepted. See attached report.

Women's Corrections Report – Beverly G:  A meeting of the “A New Beginning – One Day at a Time” group was held on April 2nd. The April 16th meeting was cancelled by the CCA. Since only one corrections officer is assigned to our meetings, we do not have any control over circumstances that may deem it necessary to cancel a meeting.

If you have extra issues of the Grapevine or other AA approved literature and wish to donate to the women's group, please arrange to give your items to one of the volunteers. We also are in need of DVD's, videos, cassettes and CD's that are AA related.

We continue to ask for volunteers who would like to carry the AA message to these women. If you have already filed out an application and have not received your badge, please call Beverly at 352/860-2422 (after May 30th) or Kathy at 352/860-2875. We also continue to encourage the women who are released to have an exit plan and to attend an AA meeting as soon as possible. If you can give a ride to one of these women or seek them out at a meeting, they would appreciate your willingness to extend your hand. The Hot Line has a list of numbers on file for calls for rides. If you are interested, please contact the Hot Line chairperson.

Men's Correction Report – Ed H:  Two new committee members have been approved, bringing the Men's Corrections Committee membership to nine volunteers.

There was one Men's Corrections meeting in April. The April 9th meeting was cancelled by Citrus County Corrections due to illness. The meeting on April 23rd was attended by four volunteers including one of the two new volunteers who shared his experience, strength, and hope. The responses by all those who attended was very good and the books and literature moved well.

The Area 14 Assembly was held on April 5, 2008. At the Corrections workshop a discussion was held as to whether there should be any considerations put forth to the 2008 Conference Committee on Corrections to change/add to the Corrections workbooks and kits used in carrying the AA message. It was decided to leave the workbooks and kits the way they are.

It was noted by the chair that the NFCC is working with County Jails to establish an “Open Door” procedure to help solve the various problems, such as cancellations, and slow approvals of volunteer applications, etc. many District Committees have been having.

Our relationship with Citrus County Corrections is improving daily. I have been talking to both Steven A., from the CCA HR Dept, and the Corrections Chaplain regarding weekly meetings and substitute personnel to avoid cancellations. Both the CCA Liaison and the Chaplain agree these two situations should be resolved. Our DVD on AA in Corrections was mentioned to the HR liaison and one was given to the Chaplain. Two areas seem to be in the works. First, there is movement in the part of CCA to make modifications to accommodate our request to have weekly AA meetings for both the men and women's groups. Hopefully we should see positive changes in a month or so. Second, I received a call from the HR Liaison and was told the Chaplain was not going to be our contact with CCA. Corrections has another in mind who, according to the HR liaison, is very interested and enthusiastic in helping us carry the AA message. I was told that when that person is installed, we will be notified and a meeting will be set up and to bring the DVD on “AA in Corrections Facilities.” Things are looking good. Time will tell…

I would like to add that there is an excellent write up in Box 459, February/March 2008 Issue on Corrections. The heading is “Communications in North Florida Opens a Lot of Doors.” It is worth reading. Our effort is paying off.

Treatment – John O:  Baycare – Bill K volunteered to stock Where & Whens and pamphlets. I spoke to Nancy  and let her know that AA is available to bring in meetings whenever they would like.

Therapeutic Health Endeavors – Where & Whens and pamphlets restocked. They will let me know when they would like a speaker to come in.

The Centers – Dropped off meeting lists and some pamphlets. They did get the funding to start breaking ground on an inpatient treatment facility; approximately 15 beds for adolescents.

Marilyn reports Jay B and residents of treatment center extend heartfelt thanks to District 28 for literature that was received.

Intergroup – presented by Paula D:

The Hotline had 74 calls in April; 70 for AA, 2 for NA and 2 for Alanon.

Our Inventory and Sales committee reported that the NCI office is willing to deliver items to our monthly meetings, when notified, the Wednesday before the meeting.

The Monthly Package Special for May will be the "AA on the Road Package" which consists of a Pocket Big Book, Pocket 12 & 12, 24 Hour Book, Travel Mug, Bumper Sticker, and Car/Motor Cycle Plate Cover for $37.

Due to the increase in activities that will be going on for the next couple of months, we will be adding an “activities calendar” to the Newsletter.  It will be an insert in the journal and have a calendar of events on one side and detailed information about the event on the other, so it can hang and have it handy as a quick reference to the activities.

Our Entertainment Committee is planning a celebration for District's 20th anniversary and Intergroup's 10th anniversary.

The contract was signed for the new NCI office and we will be moving the 1st of June to Room 305 in the same building.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Intergroup will be asking the groups for permission to increase the price of conference approved literature. The NCI reps have been asked to discuss this at their group business meetings. NCI will be addressing this under new business at the May meeting.

Intergroup office phone number is 352-344-0290.

Literature – Greg H:  2 pamphlets going up to the General Service Conference for vote.

1)      Pamphlet titled “44 Questions” be changed to “FAQ” subtitled “Frequently Asked Questions About AA.”

2)      Bring back the pamphlet titled “Letter to the Woman Alcoholic.”

CPC/Public Info – Janet B:  The usual spots were taken care of re: our meeting schedules. This month I went to Able Body Labor and the Inverness office of the Salvation Army.

The Drug Coalition of Citrus County sponsored a Town Hall meeting and we were able to gather enough material to fill a spot, despite rather short notice. John O attended.

Ms. Scott, executive director of OCCC, assured us of better communication of the next Town Hall meeting; possibly in July – subject DRUGS.

I spoke with James Czerevinski, supervisor of Inverness State Probation and Parole. He was very gracious as I explained the problem of non-alcoholics attending our closed meetings. I pointed out the key on the back of Where & When and how to use it. He said he would inform his staff. Officer Czerevinski also said to inform him if we had further problems.

The Hungry and Homeless Health Fair will be held May 24th at the Crystal River First Baptist Church on Citrus Ave. John O and I are all ready. We have tons of “stuff” to give away and quite a bit of material written in Spanish. It is a long day from 9am – 2 or 3pm and we would love to see some friendly faces – perhaps to give us a break now and then. Again, thanks to Holder Way of Life for their contributions.

Alternate DCM – John R:  Asked by Archivist to gather history (for updated information) of groups in District 28. Would like these to be ready at next assembly. Forms will be available at the next District meeting.

New Where & Whens will be available for next district meeting.

DCM Report on NFAC:     Area Assembly, Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.  Agenda items:

*  Fred H. Area 14 proposed Orlando, FL as potential site for 2020 International Convention.  However, it did

not make it to the finals.

*  Fred will be attending the 58th General Service Conference in Manhattan the week of April 24, 2008.  He will

Florida and all individual groups in the Districts.

*  Fred comes to District 28 on the scheduled day of Sunday June 29, 2008 to give his Delegate's Report and

explain how he spent six days at the Conference.  It is nice to know we had some small part in funding his
